I have just finished another book by author Rachelle Ayala; Knowing Vera, book three in her series Chance at Love.
In this book we learn more about Vera, a woman we first met in book two of this series Hidden Under Her Heart.
Vera Custodia is reliving a horrible memory from her past, and it has come to light thanks to her budding romance with Zach Spencer, the Australian triathlete that she has had a "friends with benefits" relationship with.
Zach's mother was murdered when he was very young, and Vera's father just might be the murderer. Only, Vera's father jumped to his death from the Golden gate Bridge when Vera was seven. Vera wants to tell Zach, but is afraid of what his reaction might be.
Soon Vera starts receiving strange postcards, text messages, and YouTube comments from someone claiming to be "Tatay" which is Tagalog (Filipino) for father. Could Vera's father still be alive, and if he is, what does he know about Zach's mother?
Vera sets off in search of answers, and finds her self in Australia, along with Zach, and Cliff, the head desk clerk at the retirement home where her uncle lives. She is unsure of everything, as she learns new things about her own family, as well as Zach's family.
Along the way, she discovers that she is head over heels in love with Zach, and knows that he feels the same, but will they ever be able to get over the murder and lies that plague their pasts? In the end, all of the answers are revealed, but the road there is filled with blinding curves and an ever thickening plot!
I recommend this book, and I can definitely say that I like Rachelle Ayala's writing style!
