We are getting close to Halloween time, and so it is only fitting that I give you my review of this great book by Cathy SpencerTown Haunts.
In this book we are introduced to a host of character, from 40 something beauty Anna Nolan, to newcomers Tiernay Rae and her brother Greg.
Here is the synopsis, as posted by the author:
Cemetery caretaker Sherman Mason is horrified to hear his dead wife calling to him from her grave. He asks newcomer Tiernay Rae, a gorgeous witch and proprietor of the Healing Hands store, to hold a séance to find out what’s troubling his wife’s ghost. Tiernay needs a coven to focus her powers, however, so her roguish brother, Greg, suggests that Anna Nolan and her two friends help ‒ “the maiden, the mother, and the crone” as he calls them. But with Halloween fast approaching and the séance unleashing a malicious evil in the small town of Crane, can Tiernay stop it before someone gets hurt, or even killed? (Cathy Spencer, 2013)
I have to say, this book drew me in; I am a huge fan of mysteries and scary stories alike, so the combination in this book had me hooked. I was constantly surprised at the direction the book took, as, right as I thought I had figured out what was going on, the plot took a sharp turn and thickened.
In this book we find out that it truly does take a witch to catch a ghost, but you will be surprised by how things progress. I sat down to read this book, and didn't get up again, until I was done! It isn't very often that I am drawn into a book that quickly, but this book started with a scenario that had me itching to find out more.
