The story, Skipping Stones, by J.B. McGee, introduces us to Alex (Lexi) Hart, a 15 year old who has faced more heartache than any 15 year old ever should.
Her entire world revolves around her family, but her world crashes in on her, and she is left to face the stages of grief all by herself...that is, until she meets Andrew (Drew) Foster.
Lexi finally has her first love, only to lose him, and with no hope of ever seeing him again...or will she? With only her grandparents as a constant in her life, Lexi tries to move forward with her life.
She joins the Army, but it always seems like just as you try to leave the past behind you, it finds you again. Did Drew just save her from that bomb, or was she imagining it?
This book is one of those books, that grabs your attention from the very first page. Keeps you on the edge of your seat, and will have you going through the stages of grief along with the characters.
I couldn't help but be touched by the pain Lexi was experiencing, and I think that it was a wonderfully written book...one that definitely has me wanting to read more from the mind of J.B. McGee
