I turn 35 in November; sometimes I feel every bit of those years, and sometimes I don't. More often than not, it is an experience that makes me feel like I am getting old. So, in honor of this weeks #BehindTheBlogger, I did a little soul searching to try and pinpoint some of the signs that I'm getting older, here is what I came up with...
My kids (4 and 8) love Disney movies, and lately, one of their favorites is The Little Mermaid, which came out 1 week after I turned 9. Yeah, my son is almost the same age I was when this movie first came out...and yes, our copy IS on VHS!
I get way too excited when I get a new vacuum cleaner, or new pots and pans
Getting a stubborn stain out of my kids clothes, makes me do the happy dance
I strongly dislike the music that they play on the radio, and would rather listen to music from the 50's through the 80's
Hearing a car with loud bass, driving down my street after 9 PM, makes me angry, and yes, sometimes I look out the window and curse at the idiot that drove by...even though their system couldn't touch the one I had "back in the day"
I would rather attend a school function for my kids, than go to a club
I wanted to get away from small town living as a teenager, but would give anything to be back in a small town now.
In all honesty, I am sure there are probably 100 more signs that I'm getting older, some more physically noticeable than others, but that's okay because, I like the wisdom that comes with age. I love that my kids enjoy the same things I did as a child, and I love that even though I am tired at the end of the day, my life is full and happy. So, I welcome the signs that I'm getting older, so long as they come with the smiles, and laughs of my children, and the strong loving arms of my husband, the strong traditions of my family, and the promise that each day is being lived to the fullest!
Plus, my husband says, getting older looks good on me ;)
What are some signs that YOU are getting older? I would love to know more about you!
Thank you for reading a story from #BehindTheBlogger Hop. Every 2 weeks a group of bloggers is given a writing prompt. These prompts are very open ended, so our bloggers can write about whatever they desire. The main rule is that their blog post directly relates to the topic of that week. The point of this hop is for our readers to get to know us on a personal level.
Please hop along and read all of the blog posts in this weeks hop. Just click the links below. If you want real and raw emotion, then you will find it here. After you read each post, please comment and share. We want to get to know you too!
